There's a particular kind of evening that marks a shift — not just in a product line, but in how people think about getting from one place to another. On July 28, 2026, at 6:30 PM, that evening arrived at the Trinoma Activity Center in Quezon City, where BYD Cars Philippines pulled the cover off its newest crossover and, with it, an idea that feels overdue: that going electric shouldn't mean choosing just one way to do it.
The all-new BYD Atto 2 arrives in two forms — the fully electric Atto 2 EV and the plug-in hybrid Atto 2 DM-i — under a banner that doubles as a promise: "Now Everyone Can Go Electric." It's a fitting one. For every driver who's dreamed of silent, tailpipe-free commuting, and every driver who still eyes a long provincial trip with a flicker of range anxiety, BYD has built an answer into a single, unassuming compact SUV. Joining it at the same launch is the refreshed new BYD Seal 5 DM-i, giving buyers even more ways to make the switch.
Two Hearts, One Body
The Atto 2 EV carries a 45.1 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery feeding a front motor that produces 177 PS and 290 Nm of torque — enough to carry it 380 km on a single charge, by NEDC reckoning. Plug it into a CCS2 65 kW DC fast charger and it climbs from 10% to 80% in around 40 minutes; a Type 2 7 kW AC connection will fill it from empty in about 7.4 hours, the length of a good night's sleep.
The Atto 2 DM-i takes a different path to the same destination. A 1.5-liter four-cylinder generator works alongside a 7.9 kWh battery and a single electric motor putting out 165 PS and 300 Nm, capable of 45 km on electricity alone before its combined range stretches out to an impressive 1,045 km. It's the kind of number that quiets doubt before it starts.
Both variants carry a vehicle-to-load function — a small but telling detail, turning the car itself into a power source when a blackout hits or an adventure calls for more than the grid can offer nearby.

The DM-i Dynamic trims some of this back — a smaller 10.1-inch display, a reverse camera in place of the full surround view — but holds onto the wireless connectivity that makes daily driving frictionless.
Choose the DM-i Premium, and a full suite of driver-assistance technology comes along for the ride: forward collision warning with automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure and lane-keeping assist, high-beam assist, and traffic sign recognition — quiet co-pilots for the miles ahead.
Built for These Roads
At 4,330mm long (4,310mm for the DM-i), 1,830mm wide, and 1,675mm tall, riding on a 2,620mm wheelbase with up to 160mm of ground clearance, the Atto 2 is sized for the reality of Philippine roads — nimble enough for city traffic, composed enough for the open highway. The EV comes dressed in Breeze Green, Harbor Gray, Midnight Blue, or Ski White; the DM-i in Cosmos Black, Harbor Gray, Midnight Blue, or Ski White.
"Our newest model, the BYD Atto 2, is proof that shifting to electric vehicles is a practical reality for the everyday Filipino driver," said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. "Whether you want to go full electric, or extend your range with a plug-in hybrid model built on BYD's Super DM-i technology, the BYD Atto 2 makes the switch to go electric easy, whichever you choose."
